Dacosta Bayley: DCTO (Dreams Come True Object) Jibun Project

Based on the legend of Daruma, a 5th century monk and the founder of Zen Buddhism, each figure sits 7" tall by 6.25" wide. It is said that Daruma was so dedicated to his meditations that he lost the use of his arms and legs, which is why he is depicted as limbless. The figure is weighted so that it will right itself when jostled. Comes in three colors: Temple Red, Sumi-e Ink Black, and Emperor's Yellow. Daruma dolls come with unpainted eyes. The owner uses Daruma as a symbol of personal dedication to a new venture or new beginning. Painting in the left eye shows commitment to a goal; once the goal is achieved, you paint in the right eye This feature symbolizes the Japanese saying, Nanakorobi yaoki meaning perseverance.
