Lemelson’s toy inventions

Jerome H. Lemelson known for his controversial innovations like automated warehouses, industrial robots, cordless telephones, fax machines, videocassette recorders, camcorders and the magnetic tape drive used in Sony's Walkman tape players. Lemelson has over 600 patents making him the 2nd most prolific inventor in American history. Lemelson's toy inventions can be seen at the Toying with Invention display at the Lemelson Center on the third floor of the Museum. The National Museum of American History reopens on 11/21/08 after an extensive two-year renovation. The Lemelson Center will also debut its new Lemelson Hall of Invention, a 3,500 square-foot exhibition gallery will feature the Center’s award-winning Invention at Play exhibition.
